WHO IS MR. MCG?
“Mom ran a dancing school. She began taking me with her when I was 4 years old to watch, listen and perhaps learn. When I strayed off and got into trouble, she put me IN her class. Needless to say, my musical career began at an early age.” By age 9, Mr. McG had taken several years of dance lessons, could play 3 instruments and sang in the school chorus.
“I guess I
always knew that I was destined for a life of music and kids.”
After seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan in February of 1964, his
future plans were a no-brainer. Mr. McG had taken the back off the TV and attached alligator
clips to the speaker so that the program could be recorded into
Mom’s reel-to-reel tape recorder without any background noise. A
guitar quickly followed as instrument #4.
Mr. McG is a retired as a public school music teacher where his
work touched thousands of students both in the schools and
privately. His vast experience with children and his love of
music have given him a unique perspective from which to write
songs that have the ability to capture a child’s interest. He
teaches through original songs about building good character as
well as shapes, opposites, colors and more. Mr. McG also holds a
degree in piano tuning and rebuilding and remains as excited
about working with children as ever!
